Elena Dementieva won her 2008 U.S. Open quarterfinal match over Patty Schnyder in straight sets. Dementieva is currently ranked sixth in the WTA singles rankings. She has one tourney win so far in 2008, reached two other finals, and made it to the semifinals in three over events.
