Victoria Azarenka lost to Serena Williams in the Wimbledon 2009 quarterfinals. Azarenka was the eighth seed. Azarenka is ranked No. 8 in WTA singles and has two tournament titles in '09.

Caroline Wozniacki was the ninth seed at Wimbledon 2009, but she's out of the tournament now. Wozniacki was beated in the fourth round by Sabine Lisicki, 6-4, 6-4.

The showdown at Wimbledon 2009 between two former world No. 1s turned out to be not much of a showdown. Venus Williams easily dispatched Ana Ivanovic 6-1 in the first set, then Ivanovic withdrew with an injury one game into the second set.

Melanie Oudin
The biggest upset on the women's singles side at Wimbledon 2009 through the third round is that of Melanie Oudin beating No. 6 seed Jelena Jankovic. Oudin beat Jankovic, the former world No. 1, 6-7, 7-5, 6-2.
Oudin, a 17-year-old American, was selected for Fed Ex Cup play earlier this year. She had to win three qualifying matches to get into this Wimbledon, but will move into the Top 100 singles rankings regardless of what she does after this.

Gisela Dulko
This is the tennis player who eliminated Maria Sharapova from Wimbledon 2009 today - Gisela Dulko of Argentina. Dulko beat Sharapova in a second-round match, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Dulko is No. 45 in the WTA singles rankings. She has no tournament wins in 2009, but has reached the quarterfinals in three tournaments.

Magdalena Rybarikova
It was career win No. 1 in WTA singles for Magdalena Rybarikova at the Edgbaston Classic in London. Rybarikova, from Slovakia, defeated Li Na in the final, 6-0, 7-6, after knocking off Maria Sharapova in the semifinals. Rybarikova was ranked 58th entering the tournament and will move up in the new rankings - perhaps moving past her previous best ranking of No. 46.

Dominika Cibulkova
Dominika Cibulkova put an end to Maria Sharapova's Grand Slam return, slamming Masha 6-0, 6-2 in the French Open quarterfinals. Cibulkova is the No. 20 seed at the French, and she moved on to her first-ever Grand Slam semifinals appearance.
