The 10th what? The 10th grand slam singles title of her career. Serena Williams defeated Dinara Safina in the Australian Open finals 6-0, 6-3. It's her fourth singles crown Down Under.

Hey, if Elena Dementieva wants to frolic in the surf, well, by golly, she's earned the right. We're only 2 1/2 weeks into 2009 and Dementieva already has two WTA singles titles won.

On Saturday, she got past Dinara Safina, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1, to win the Medibank International in Sydney, a warmup for the Australian Open. It is Dementieva's 13th career WTA singles title.

Sharapova Out of the Aussie

Maria Sharapova has withdrawn from the 2009 Australian Open. The defending champion has been battling a shoulder injury and her recovery is taking longer than expected.
